I am running viscosity 1.4.2 (1178) and when I reboot, I am asked to re-enter the credentials even though I have already ticked off "remember credentials".

What is going wrong?

Hi levseltzer,

Are you receiving a failed connection attempt before being asked for your login credentials again?

Also are you logging in as the same user after each reboot?

No failed connection attempt - at least not that I noticed.
I am logging in as the same user to both windows 8 and viscosity.

Hi levseltzer,

It might be a profile problem. Please exit Viscosity, please go to C:\Users\<Your username>\AppData\Roaming\Viscosity and delete LoginInfo.xml and Settings.xml then try to connect again and save your credentials. You can test they have been saved by disconnecting and reconnecting straight after.

It seems that it was a profile problem. I looked at the profile before deleting and saw several references to the same IP. I also noticed that there was another profile called "original.logininfo.xml", which I believe is from the restore program (my computer crashed and I restored data). So I erased logininfo.xml and renamed the above file, restarted viscosity and it connected immediately without asking for credentials.

Thank you for your help.

I have already tried to delete the files Settings.xml and LoginInfo.xml but viscosity still does not store the password when "Save credentials" are cecked. The user name is however stored and remembered when the files are recreated.

The username is not at all in the new LoginInfo.html file though

Hi JdZ,

The Username and Password are encrypted so they will not appear in the file in a form that you will recognise them. Are there any authentication errors in the log when you disconnect and then reconnect after you tick to save credentials? Do you receive any errors that your saved credentials were incorrect?

I would expect the password to be encrypted, but there is nothing stored at all.

No username and no password

This is what it look like:

<dict>
<key>password</key>
<string />
<key>username</key>
<string />

I get no errors that any credentials are wrong, I can enter them and login just fine, they are just not stored at all.

I get no errors when i check the box to save credentials , only error i get in the log is:

okt 12 11:23:19: WARNING: this configuration may cache passwords in memory -- use the auth-nocache option to prevent this

Hi JdZ,

What version of Viscosity are you using? Are you using Viscosity at home or on a company/enterprise computer?

We use Windows version 1.5.10 (1385)

Mostly corporate computers, using roaming profiles. Worked with previous verisons then around 1.5.9 it stopped saving the password for most computers
