Shared Folders with Openvpn

Hello
I just bought and install viscosity on my windows 10
The openvpn server is on a Opnsense router
The windows 10 is on the network 192.168.1.x
The other network is on 192.168.9.x

The vpn connection is ok, I can ping the other network and my DNS is ok also

Now I have a question regarding the window explorer, in the network part of the window explorer I don't see the other machines of the distant network
I can put the name in the explorer and I can access to this machine

I know that SMB is using Netbios, which is not routable

Is there a possibility to see the distant machines in the local explorer ?

Thanks for your help
Regards
Yves

Hi Yves,

Autodiscovery of network resources I'm afraid will not work on a TUN network connection. For this, you will need to change to a TAP device setup, this will require either modifications to your existing server or a new server be setup, however OPNSense should make it pretty easy to setup a TAP OpenVPN server, I recommend referring to their documentation or community on how to do this.

Eric

Hi yves,

You can setup your network bridge however suits your needs. You can have your TAP OpenVPN server on a separate network or take DHCP from your main network. I recommend you refer to OPNSense documentation for how to do either.
