Update 13 Oct 2020: Updates are now available via Viscosity's automatic beta updates stream. Direct download links and release notes have been removed from this post. For instructions on how to update please see: https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/ar ... -versions/

We're pleased to announce the release of an early-access beta version of Viscosity 1.9! Version 1.9 brings several new features we're excited about: support for macOS 11 (Big Sur), driverless TAP (bridged) connection support, and native support for new Apple Silicon (ARM) Macs (when they're available, or if you're lucky enough to have an Apple DTK machine).

Driverless TAP support is something we're particularly enthusiastic about: if you use TAP (bridged) OpenVPN connections you'll no longer need to manually approve a kernel extension to load before you're able to connect. This will also make deployment much easier in enterprise environments as well. And best of all, our approach fully supports macOS 11.

As Viscosity 1.9 contains some significant changes under-the-hood, we feel that this release is still too experimental to release via the automatic update beta version stream. However, we've heard from many of you currently using beta versions of macOS 11 that would like to help test a beta version, so we're making it available as a manual update on the forum.

[Download links and release notes removed. Please see notice above.]

Please note that this version will *not* automatically update as new manual updates become available. We'll post here when new beta versions are available. To receive an email notification when a post is added to this topic, click the small spanner/wrench icon at the bottom of this page, and select the "Subscribe topic" option.

Finally, please use caution when running beta builds. They include experimental features and improvements that require further testing. We advise against their use in production environments.

Please ensure that you're logged into the forums when clicking on the small spanner/wrench icon. If you're not logged in the option will not appear.

Viscosity 1.9b3 is now available.

This version includes the ability for Before-Connect scripts to return a username and password, adds additional compression options to the editor, prompts for confirmation when quit using Cmd-Q, and includes a number of bug fixes.

We're confident enough in the stability of this release to make it available via Viscosity's automatic beta updates stream. For instructions on how to update please see:
https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/ar ... -versions/

We will be releasing all future 1.9 beta updates via the automatic beta updates stream, and so this forum topic will no longer be updated further. We'd like to offer a heartfelt thank you to those that tested the beta versions and emailed in with bugs and feedback. It's greatly appreciated!

We'll likely be offering early-access builds like this again in the future for new features and big updates. If you'd like to be notified be sure to keep an eye on our Twitter feed, as this is where notices will be posted first.

Cheers,
James
