Hi !

I have tested my IP address on Browserleaks.com, with my seedbox proxy and viscosity activated (OpenVPN), and I don't understand why my IP is different than Viscosity's version : please see attachs.

Thanks for explains

Hi banzaii,

The Client IP address displayed in the Details window and menu is the IP address the VPN server has assigned your computer. It's the actual IP address of your VPN connection.

However this may not be the IP address that other websites and servers see your connection as coming from (often called your "Public IP") when routing all network traffic through the VPN connection. When this happens it's typically because the remote VPN network has assigned you an "internal" IP address, and then sends your network traffic from your internal address through a shared router or server (and it's the IP address of this router/server that becomes your Public IP).

With commercial VPN Service Providers it's pretty common that your Client IP address and Public IP address are different: generally their customers want their Public IP address to be shared to offer a level of anonymity. In many instances the Public IP address is the same IP address as the VPN server you are connected to (the "Server IP") which is listed in Viscosity's Details window.

Cheers,
James
