Feature Request: Per-Application Split Tunneling

My work has multiple VPNs, and I have my own personal VPN as well, this presents various issues that require me to stop working and wait.

Tunneling based not on IP but on Application would make this easy as I could just route my terminals traffic.

I’ve seen prior requests from 2013 however the feature doesn’t seem to be present.

I am also interested in per-application tunneling for various other reasons.

Reason #1, if I want to maintain some privacy/anonymity with my VPN, then I cannot be using it to log into servers like Gmail or Facebook. So I would want to be able to, for example, set up Firefox to go over the VPN while leaving Chrome (logged into Gmail and Facebook) using my regular IP connection.

Reason #2, if I want to run a server, I do not want it captured by the VPN, I instead want it to be on my main IP connection.

Reason #3 the OS has tons of hidden identifiable beacons going out, looking for incoming SMS messages, IM messages, software updates, calendar updates, and on and on. If I’m using the VPN for privacy, I again don’t want those identifiable connections going over the VPN. If I’m using the VPN for both privacy and security, then I want that traffic to go over one VPN connection and the “private” traffic to go over another.
